Safe To Compete Test

£89.99

Nowadays, all professional and semi-professional fighters in combat sports must show that they are clear of bloodborne viruses to compete. Whether you're a cage fighter, boxer or martial artist, you’ll know that cuts and wounds are inevitable, as is the risk of being infected by any potential viruses their opponent may have, notably HIV, Hepatitis B and C. At Neuroptimax Diagnostics, our Safe to Compete Package blood test can help fighters screen and check for these three major viruses.

What we measure

HIV

HIV is an infection and virus that weakens the immune system, making the body more susceptible to various illnesses and malignancies. This illness is passed from one to person through bodily fluids such as:

  • Breast milk
  • Blood
  • Sperm
  • Vaginal and rectal fluids

While the virus cannot be spread through the air, water, or through casual touch, HIV is a lifelong illness because it inserts itself into the DNA of cells.

Our HIV test detects HIV antibodies and antigens and diagnoses them. It's the most reliable way of detecting an illness, and if the fighter is at high risk of infection, this test should be done regularly to guarantee that he was not exposed to the virus after the test.

Hepatitis B

The Hepatitis B virus causes a highly contagious liver infection known as Hepatitis B. It is transferred by coming into contact with infected blood or other bodily fluids. Even though the virus is found in saliva, it is not transmitted via sharing utensils or kissing. It also can't be spread by sneezing, coughing, or breastfeeding.

The surface antigen is measured in Hepatitis B tests to detect an active infection rather than the virus's presence in the system owing to immunisation. Surface antigens are examined in the Hepatitis B test. And, if the test findings are negative, this shows that the fighter does not have the virus.

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a blood-to-blood virus that can cause significant liver damage and other health problems. However, with current therapies, the illness is frequently curable, and most persons who contract it still have an average life expectancy. However, if left untreated, it can result in severe and perhaps life-threatening damage to the liver over time.

Our Hepatitis C test looks for antibodies to screen for and detect the virus's presence in the body. If the results are negative, the person is not infected and was never exposed to the Hepatitis C virus.
